As we waited

Once we decided on this one, we had to wait for the paperwork to go through. We hired a lawyer to help us with the Portugese paperwork. Got our Fiscal numbers ( a Portugal requirement) and the owner sent out legal documents to the neighbors. In PT, neighbors have right of first refusal. The neighbors did not respond legally, so then the title paperwork started.

I went back to the Netherlands and started collecting things for the house. The first big thing was an off grid worthy kitchen. Most of these little quintas use a two burner camp stove, but I wanted something a little nicer. I found a used Taylor's gas stove and oven combo with grill from England. It was in a yacht and needed a severe clean up.

All of the knobs were fine. A few were stiff and needed WD40.

The original burners were badly damaged.

A deep cleaning happened. This model was from the mid-1980's and is no longer offered by Taylors. So I'm guessing 40 years worth of crap.

The burner rings needed help. One of them was either badly casted or badly abused. It was no longer level and gas came out in weird ways.

Clean!

A new brass ring and iron cap was customized and installed using a grinding wheel.

The oven has a nice flame. Sadly, the oven doesnt get very warm, so I'm going to have to check that out.

The grill though... works fantastic! makes excellent steaks and chicken.

All finished! I found a solid wood coffee table for free and I tore it apart and cut it down to support the Taylor at the perfect height. With extra old wood, I made a little side shelf.
